Bandits have killed 12 people and burnt dozen houses in Gindin Dutse Makyali village in Kufana district, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State on Sunday.
During the attack, which occurred at 6:00 am, the assailants also razed 17 houses in the community according to eyewitness.
Mr. Stephen Maikori, Overseer of Kufana District in a report , confirmed the incident, stating that seven other individuals were injured by the attackers.
“At around 6:00 am this morning, Sunday 18/2/2024, bandits attacked the community in large numbers, killing 12 persons by burning them alive, while 7 people sustained serious injuries. Additionally, seventeen residential houses were set ablaze,” he said in the report.
It was gathered from other residents that the attackers didn’t abduct any community members.
Responding to the incident, Governor Uba Sani expressed his dismay, stating that while collaborating with security forces and other stakeholders to address security challenges, he received reports of renewed bandit attacks leading to loss of lives, kidnappings, and property destruction in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs.
In a statement issued by the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Gov. Sani condemned the attacks in the strongest terms and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
He directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to urgently assist the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs, providing support following the destruction of their homes and belongings.
