Chaos ensued in Galadimawa Village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, when bandits conducted a nighttime raid, abducting the wife and two children of the village head.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, according to local sources. The victims are Fatima Aliyu (wife), Abdullahi Aliyu (son), and Kamal Aliyu (son).
A community leader Hussaini Umar who confirmed the incident said the bandits arrived in large numbers, firing shots to disperse the residents.
According to him, the residents are feeling unsafe due to the incident.
“The second wife of our Village Head and his two children were abducted around 11:30 p.m Monday by armed bandits who invaded his home after breaking through a hole. The entire community is in confusion.
“The attackers were heard searching for the village head, suggesting they had targeted him but did not find him. After ransacking the house, including the ceiling, and failing to locate the village head, they took his second wife and two children,” he said.
He called on the state government to deploy additional military forces to the area, stating that the current mobile police unit is inadequate.
He said around 20 surrounding villages have relocated to Galadimawa due to insecurity, yet we remain vulnerable.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, was contacted for comment and promised to provide more details after gathering information, but had not responded by the time of this report.
