Seven people have been killed by bandits in Yangalu Community in Magama local government area of Niger State.
This is coming as the number of Internally Displaced Peoples camps in Shiroro local government area have risen to 25 as bandits attacks continue in the area.
Chairman of the council, Isiaku Bawa, said some residents who left the camps to return to their homes on Wednesday, believing the situation to be calm and safe, returned to camps early Thursday.
In the Yangalu attack, sources said the bandits invaded the community in large numbers on motorcycles and shot severally in the air to scare the people.
Bandit attacks, which has become a daily occurrence in parts of Niger state, have led to the killing, maiming and displacement of many people.
The chairman of Magama local government council, Sufiyanu Yahaya, who visited the community after the attack, assured the people that measures will be taken to improve the security situation in the area.
