Former Kano State governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has formally obtained the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) membership card.
Shekarau represents Kano Central in the Senate.
The former Director General of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s Support Group AbdulMumin Jibrin, had earlier announced the defection of Shekarau to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his Twitter handle.
“BREAKING- Sen Ibrahim Shekarau joins NNPP. Details later,” the tweet reads.
The party later tweeted photographs of the visit of NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to Shekarau’s home.
“His Excellency Engr Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso paid a congratulatory visit today to former Gov (Sen) Ibrahim Shekarau after he decamped to NNPP,” the party posted.
Reports say NNPP leader and former governor of the state, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, handed over the NNPP membership card to Shekarau in a ceremony attended by many supporters on Wednesday.
