Acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali has been confirmed in the position by the Police Council. President Muhammadu Buhari presided over its meeting on Friday.
Police Affairs Minister Maigari Dingyadi disclosed this to journalists after the meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that Alkali was appointed acting IGP on April 6.
Until his appointment, Alkali was Deputy Inspector-General of Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Abuja.
Alkali was born in 1963, and hails from Geidam local government of Yobe State.
He joined Nigeria Police Force in March 1988 and is expected to retire from service in March 2023.
