An unconfirmed report has it that police in Adamawa State have arrested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner of Adamawa, Prof Hudu Yunus Ari.
A very competent source in the state All Progressives Congress and close associate of Senator Aisha Dahiru, disclosed this to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
Ari was reportedly arrested for declaring Senator Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, as winner of the Adamawa Governorship election.
Ari reportedly declared the result of the state’s rerun election while collation was still on going.
The INEC, according to its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, that Ari, by declaring the results, usurped the power of the state’s Returning Officer.
Consequently, the commission declared the result null void and of no effect,and further suspended the collation of results.
The commission went further and ordered the REC and although involved to immediately report to its National Headquarters in Abuja.
No words yet from the police in Adamawa on the arrest of Ari as at the time of this report, but the source revealed that he was arrested and taken to unknown destination.
