Suspected bandits have launched a deadly assault on Unguwar Auta in Gonin Gora, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of two local vigilantes in the area.
The exact number of casualties among the bandits remains unclear, as does their ultimate fate following the intense gun battle.
Eyewitnesses report that the onslaught occurred around 11:00 PM on Wednesday, with the attackers unleashing chaos upon the community.
A senior JTF members who doesn’t want to be named confirmed while lamenting the large-scale abduction in the village, saying this marks the third attack on the community this year, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced security measures.
He explained that despite timely alerts to security agencies, the absence of sufficient weaponry hampers the ability of local vigilantes to effectively confront the bandits.
Official statements from the state government and police command are awaited, with attempts to reach the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, proving unsuccessful.
