The Founder of Kefiano Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Mr Kefas Ropshik, has launched a creative hub to train 1,700 youths on Information Communication Technology (ICT) annually.
In a speech at the event on Monday in Jos, Ropshik said that the gesture was part of his youth empowerment and skills development initiative.
He said that the essence of the exercise was to take advantage of the creative industry to make young people become useful to themselves and society.
Ropshik, who said that the training would be free of charge, opined that the effort would help to boost the economy of the state and place it on the path of steady growth.
”The economic system of the world is so big to accommodate everyone and we in Plateau need to take advantage of technology to explore the creative industry.
”The world is moving from oil to ICT, green economy, agriculture and human capital development.
”Plateau is gradually moving from being a civil servant state to a commercial hub, and the earlier our young people key into it, the better for us.
”Basically, what we will be doing here is to train and equip 100 youths annually from each of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
”We need young people to be creative and put their talents to good use for their good and that of the state,” Ropshik said.
He also said that his organisation would be partnering with donor agencies within and outside the country toward achieving its mandate.
He said that the initiative is devoid of religious, tribal or political inclinations, adding that young people of different backgrounds would benefit from the gesture.
Inaugurating the hub, Sen. Adai Ali, commended Ropshik for the initiative.
Ali called on the State Government to support the move for the greater good of the state.
