The Police in Zamfara state says it has helped in facilitating the release of 10 people kidnapped by bandits in Maradun local government area of the state.
A statement by the Police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu, said the victims were released by their captors through collaboration with the State Peace and Reconciliation Committee.
Bandits had ealier on Monday stormed Kaya village of Maradun local government and whisked away the victims.
Shehu said the victims were abducted and taken to Sububu forest but later released following the ongoing peace process initiated by the state government.
He said the rescued victims have been debriefed by the Police and later handed them over to the sole Administrator of Maradun local government, who would reunite them with their families.
Shehu said the Police had commenced Investigation into the abduction and the outcome would be made public.
