Members of the Jigawa State chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) on Tuesday protested over the state government’s failure to implement financial autonomy for legislative staff.
The PASAN members also sealed the entrance to the State Assembly during the protest.
The State Chairman of PASAN, Umar Kazaure said his members would go on indefinite strike after a 21-day ultimatum expired. He said the ultimatum was to compel federal government financial autonomy as assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari about two years ago.
Kazaure said legislative workers had been exercising patience since the signing of the bill into law by President Buhari, adding that the planned strike is to continue for as long as the financial autonomy Act is not duly implemented by the federal government.
