There is a need for a change of leadership in Kogi State in view of the underdevelopment the state has experienced in the last eight years under Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Kaduna State branch of Igalamela Development Association, made the declaration in a statement signed by its Chairman, Adamu Haruna.
Haruna decried that educational institutions, socio-economic activities have all become nonexistent in the state for the period Bello has been governor.
“Most primary and secondary schools that hitherto functioned have closed down, because there no teachers to teach in these schools.
“Our peasant farmers hardly make the desired yields due to the lack of support from the state government in terms of provision of fertilisers, insecticides, and farm inputs among others.
“The worst of our social problems is widespread insecurity that has touched down in interior villages which Yahaya Bello is responsible for a larger chunk of,” he said.
In proffering solutions, the association noted that the best way to reverse the downward trend in the state is regime change so that we can have a people-oriented administration in the state.
The statement urged all Kogites irrespective of ethnicity and religion to ensure that the next administration is not the one Bello is trying to impose on the state.
“In our estimation, we have discovered the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Murtala Yakubu Ajaka to be the most popular and accepted across the state.
“We from Igalamela have equally declared our unflinching support for Murtala Ajaka. If he was not the right choice, he wouldn’t have enjoyed the kind of support he gets any where he goes on campaign across the state,” he added.
