The Lagos State Chapter of the PDP has felicitated all Muslim faithful in the state, preaching unity and tolerance as they celebrated the Eid al-Adha (Ileya Festival).
The PDP Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Amode made this known in his message to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir festival in Lagos on Tuesday.
Amode said the Islamic faith placed great emphasis on peaceful coexistence among people in any community, urging them to embrace peace during this time.
He said: “As we express gratitude to the Almighty Allah for His continued protection, we urge everyone to embrace unity and tolerance during this crucial period in our nation’s history.
“This is because the Islamic faith places great emphasis on peaceful coexistence among people in any community.
“We also encourage all Muslims in Lagos state to make sacrifices for the growth and development of our communities and our state.
“Let us not forget the significance of Eid al-Adha, which revolves around the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, a central teaching of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).”
Amode noted that the celebration of Eid al-Adha served as a reminder for them to emulate the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim.
According to him, Prophet Ibrahim, when instructed by Almighty Allah to sacrifice his son Ismail, humbly obeyed without questioning God’s command.
He said as his followers, they must strive to follow in his footsteps.
Amode implored residents of the state to view this period as one of sacrifice, a belief shared by the PDP, which we believe would yield positive outcomes.
He reminded that the annual festival was also a time for sharing, where they were encouraged to show love to their neighbours and extend assistance to the less privileged.
Amode said it was their collective desire to soon witness a Lagos of their dreams, where everyone could enjoy abundance and the wealth of the state was well distributed.
He said his prayers were for the Almighty Allah to continue to provide for them as they celebrated another Eid Festival and grant them the opportunity to celebrate many more in good health.
The spokesperson prayed for the blessings of Almighty Allah upon them and their families abundantly as they engaged in their Holy sacrifice! Eid Mubarak!
