Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has won the senate supplementary election conducted on Saturday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Returning Officer, Professor Ibrahim Magawata declared Wamakko as winner of the supplementary election for Sokoto-North Senatorial district and returned elected.
Wamakko defeated the deputy Governor of Sokoto state, Manir Dan’iya to retain his seat.
A former Governor of Sokoto state, Wamakko polled 141,468 as against the 118445 scored by Dan’iya.
21ST CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that Wamakko was leading Dan’iya with 11000 votes before the election was declared inconclusive.
