Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, governors and ministers have attended the turbaning of the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar as Sardaunan Katsina.
The event took place at the palace of Emir of Katsina Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman in Katsina on Saturday.
Ambassador Abubakar is the third Sardauna in the history of Katsina emirate.
Other dignitaries at the event are the Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Katsina State Deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, members of the state executive council and state legislators.
Also present included the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika, Minister of Water Resources Engr Suleiman Hussain Adamu, Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), among others.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Envoy with Cabinet Rank Status, to Chad and the Lake Chad Basin Region and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Ambassador Babagana Kingibe also attended the event. His predecessor, former SGF Alhaji Yayale Ahmed was also present.
Deputy Governor of Sokoto State Alhaji Manir Muhammad, Wazirin Katsina Senator Ibrahim Ida, Senator Bello Mandiya, security and paramilitary chiefs, members of the diplomatic corps also graced the occasion.
The turbanning ceremony was preceded by a Charity Polo Tournament that took place at the Rubicon Polo Resort Centre, Idu, Abuja on December 27th and a Golf Tournament at the Katsina Golf Club on December 28.
An inaugural conference with the theme Tradition and Modernity: Trends, Issues and History of Katsina was also held at the Conference Hall of Katsina Motel on December 29th and 30th.
