The Africa Women Conference has congratulated Princess Edna Azura on her recent inauguration as the 16th National President of the National Council of Women Societies in Nigeria (NCWS).
Co-convener, Africa Women Conference, Dr Jumai Ahmadu, in a statement said Princess Azura, inaugurated for a two-year tenure, is a leader whose dedication to advocating for women’s rights and empowerment are truly inspiring.
While congratulating her on her inauguration, she stated “As you embark on this new journey, we are confident that your vision will foster unity, strength, and progress among women in Nigeria and across the continent. Your commitment to addressing critical issues facing women and promoting gender equality will undoubtedly make a profound impact”.
While looking forward to supporting Princess Edna Azura’s initiatives and working together to create a brighter future for women everywhere, Dr. Ahmadu
encouraged the newly elected National President to be just and fair in discharging her responsibilities for the benefits of women nationwide.
She added that as a woman of strength, vision, and dedication, Mrs. Azura embodies true leadership and a commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women across Nigeria and said she’s confident that her tenure will usher in remarkable progress for women, families, and communities.
Ms Azura is taking over following the death of former President Lami Lau, who died June 5, 2024, after a brief illness.
