Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has condemned the Federal Government for stopping the occupy lekki toll gate protest in Lagos.
In his Twitter account Saturday afternoon, Atiku said the 1999 constitution, as amended (Section 40) guarantees the citizens right to protest.
He said anything that goes against it is rejected and stands condemned.
Atiku said rather than abort the protest, security agents ought to have provided a secured conducive environment for citizens to protest peaceably in line with constitutional provisions and the African Charter on Human rights.
