A federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, till January 19 after lawyers of the defendant walked out of the courtroom.
Kanu’s lawyers staged a walkout in protest over the refusal of the Department of State Sevices (DSS) to allow some other lawyers in the team to gain access to the courtroom.
The DSS had on October 26 re-arraigned Kanu on a seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.
Kanu was brought into the courtroom at 9:52 am shortly after Justice Binta Nyako, commenced sitting.
Kanu was arrested abroad and returned to Nigeria after he jumped bail and fled the country in 2017.
