President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigerian elite criticise him unjustly despite all the achievements of his administration.
He said this in Daura, Katsina State, after he revalidated his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday.
The President who was in the company of party dignitaries and state governors at the flag-off of the exercise in Daura, said when his administration took over on May 29, oil production went down to about half a million barrels per day, and the price collapsed.
He said his administration had to give bailouts to governors to pay salaries.
“Nigerian elite are not interested in rating the competence but they are interested in harassing us with all the efforts we are making,” he said.
He said the governors and party officials should make efforts to convince the Nigerian elite to please give his administration the due relevance and respect it deserves, as it is working so hard with limited resources.
He also thanked the national caretaker committee chairman of the party “for shouldering the responsibilities of the APC.”
