Troops on operations against bandits in Kaduna State have arrested four bandits and rescued four people abducted in Chikun and Kajuru local government areas of the state.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, said the bandits were arrested after they were chased and cornered by security agents around Gajina settlement in Chikun local government.
He said troops under the auspices of ‘Operation Thunder Strike’ had rescued two kidnapped women close to Gadanin Gwari, Gwagwada District of Chikun local government after they were abducted on their way to their farms.
Aruwan said the Police had in a separate operation also rescued two persons who were abducted at Kurmin Idon axis of Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kajuru local government area while a third victim escaped on his own.
He said based on feedback, the troops had tracked down the criminals and engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to abandon their captives and run for dear lives.
He said, after securing the women, the troops pursued the bandits and destroyed many bandits’ camps along the way.
