At least N345 million has been declared missing from the Kano Upper Shariah Court account.
The incident was first reported by Freedom Radio Kano, which quoted the state Grand Khadi, Tijjani Yakasai, confirming the development.
The matter had been reported to the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) for further investigation.
When contacted, the PCACC acting chairman Mahmud Balarabe, said they invited all those involved as well as officials of the bank for questioning as investigation into the matter is ongoing.
The Sharia court spokesperson, Malam Kankarofi, has confirmed the missing money adding that seven computers related to the issues were also missing as well.
The missing money is said to belong to some heirs and heiresses, who have a pending case before the court.
The money was kept in the court’s custody for onward distribution to the rightful owners before it was declared missing.
It was gathered that the fraud was exposed when the court attempted to withdraw part of the money, but to the court’s dismay only N9 million was found in the account.
