A nursing mother and her 8-month-old baby have been abducted by bandits at Damba community, Gusau local government area of Zamfara State.
The incident happened at about 12.30 am Wednesday, a resident of the area told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Muhammad Shehu, who confirmed the incident said the 8-month-old baby was a son of a former councilor in the local government council.
He said the gunmen attacked former councilor’s house in the area early Wednesday morning and whisked away the victims.
Shehu said the former councillor was left with a gunshot wound and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hussaini Rabi’u has directed a thorough investigation on the matter to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators, adding that the command has been on the trail of the kidnappers to ensure the rescue of the victims.
