Some suspected kidnappers on Saturday abducted seven orphans at Rachael’s Orphanage Home located at Naharati in Abaji Area Council of the federal capital territory, Abuja.
They also abducted the security guard of the orphanage.
Sources say three people, including two house wives, were also kidnapped around the orphanage area. They said the incident happened around 1 am when the gunmen in their large numbers invaded the area and gained access to the orphanage through the main gate.
They said the kidnappers forced the gate opened and went straight into the rooms of the orphans and abducted seven of them alongside the security guard at the gunpoint.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya and the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, confirmed the incident.
The Police said only six persons were kidnapped while one person has been rescued.
She said the command had deployed its men to the forest to ensure that the remaining victims are rescued unhurt.
