Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says on Friday that the country is presently in a critical state with the increasing number of COVID-19 infections.
The Vice President said this when he toured the facilities of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Reference Laboratory, Gaduwa, Abuja.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said in a statement on Friday that the Vice President was accompanied in the tour by the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire; Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora; and the Director-General, NCDC, Chikwe Ihekweazu.
Osinbajo said despite challenges, the country has made significant progress since it recorded its first case in February 2020.
He said the federal government has activated 120 laboratories nationwide, also ramped up the country’s testing and treatment capacities.
