A former governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, has given reason why he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying it was due to abuse of the party’s constitution.
Elechi, who was speaking on Thursday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abakaliki, said even the All Progressives Party APC) is not any better, adding that non-adherence to political parties’ constitutions is one of the major challenges facing parties.
The former governor who is still in the APC, said “many people are in grief as a result of the way they were treated in the ward primaries and state; we did not respect the constitution of the party.”
He alleged that there were impositions and exchange of candidates by parties either during or after elections, adding that at the end those who were declared winners after elections were not candidates in those places.
