The Kano State Executive Council has approved the release of N15, 667,634,645.10 for the settlement of outstanding severance gratuity and allowances of former councilors who served between 2014 and 2024;
The State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya revealed this after the 27th council’s meeting.
He said the council also approved N51,575,700,575.96 for the execution of key projects and programmes aimed at promoting good governance and enhancing the wellbeing of the citizens of the State.
Among the key projects and programmes approved are N185, 162,487.50 to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation for the settlement of outstanding fiber optic installation and bandwidth subscription for 2023–2025.
Another N11,000,000 was approved to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for the settlement of 11-month outstanding allowances for 100 forest guards and the Council also approved N327,780,226.89 to the Ministry of Education for the settlement of some outstanding liabilities under the education sector.
He said the council in support of the state government on land development, has approved N265,803,510to the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning for the payment of compensation to property owners affected by the expansion of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
