Domestic airlines have announced the resumption of flight operations to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

This follows the reopening of the airport after the completion of emergency repairs on its runway.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had announced the temporary closure of the airport to allow for emergency repairs on a section of the runway.

FAAN said the airport would be shut from April 22 to May 6.

After the announcement by FAAN, airlines had announced the suspension and rerouting of scheduled flights to Enugu.

However, the Enugu airport was reopened on April 28, one week ahead of schedule.

In a statement on Wednesday, Air Peace said it would resume flights from Lagos and Abuja to Enugu on April 30.

“We are pleased to inform you that following the completion of emergency runway repairs at Akanu biam International Airport, Enugu, and the reopening of the airport by the Federal Government, Air Peace will resume scheduled flights into Enugu from Lagos and Abuja effective Wednesday, April 30, 2025,” the statement reads.

“We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during the period of disruption and look forward to welcoming you back on board as we continue to connect you safely to your destinations.”

Similarly, Ibom Air also confirmed that it would resume flights into and out of Enugu on May 4.

The airline said the decision followed the issuance of an official notice to airmen (NOTAM) by aviation authorities on April 28, confirming the reopening of runway 08/26 at the airport.

“This development comes after the issuance of an official NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) on April 28, 2025 (Ref: A0126/25 NOTAMC A0125/25), confirming that Runway 08/26 at Enugu Airport has resumed normal operations,” Ibom Air said.

“Consequently, all scheduled Ibom Air flights to and from Enugu from May 4 onwards have been reinstated.

“Our Customer Service Team is actively reaching out to affected passengers to facilitate rebooking and alternative travel arrangements where necessary.”

The airline thanked its passengers for their patience and understanding during the temporary disruption and reiterated its dedication to delivering safe, dependable, and punctual flights.
