The UI GreenMetric has ranked the Maryam Abacha American Universities in Kano, Nigeria and that of Maradi, in Niger Republic, among world’s ‘most sustainable universities.’
This was revealed in its UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2024.
UI GreenMetric is an annual international ranking of the sustainability performance of universities especially in education and research as well as to promote sustainability in higher education institutions.
A statement by the Director, Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, said the two institutions are ranked among the most sustainable universities in the world.
While Maryam Abacha American University of Niger-Maradi is ranked as the 1239th World’s Most Sustainable University, its sister, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria is ranked as the 1270th World’s Most Sustainable University in 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.
He said the certificates awarded to the two institutions, dated 12 December, 2024, were signed by the Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, Prof. Dr. Riri Fitri.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for the two institutions is coming a few days after the founder of the two universities received a global recognition from the International Academic and Management Association (IAMA) with an EDUPRENEUR Of THE YEAR award.
The IAMA award was bestowed on Prof. Gwarzo for his tremendous contribution to the development of the education sector.
