President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to deliver a keynote address as the two-day the North West Governors Forum meeting commences in Katsina on Monday.
The meeting is being held in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in Katina which is set to host the maiden edition of the North West Peace and Security Summit.
If the president makes the visit, it would be his first official visit to the state since took over government on May 29, 2023.
Tinubu will also commission the state-of-the-art 16-bed dialysis centre at the General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital built by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
He will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the new Katsina Eastern Bypass that spans from Dutsinma Road to Kano Road, passing through Daura Road and ending in Yandaki village in Kaita LGA.
The summit is billed to address the raging banditry, terrorism and communal conflicts being experienced in the region.
The state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu Zango, said the summit would have stakeholders and experts, including governors from the North West and key other partners in attendance, to discuss and find was to restore peace and stability to the area.
The event, themed: “Regional Cooperation for Securing Lives and Livelihoods,” seeks to promote peace and stability, strengthen cooperation among state governments and explore sustainable approaches to advancing food security and fostering sustainable livelihoods.
A key outcome of the summit will be the development of the Northwest Peace and Security Development Framework, a document outlining strategies, policies and actions needed to enhance regional cooperation.
