Three soldiers have died during a gun duel with bandits in Kabasa village of Magami District in Gusau local government area of Zamfara State.
Seven residents of the village were also killed in the incident that happened on Wednesday.
A source said many bandits had arrived at the village on motorcycles and fired gunshots sporadically, throwing the community into confusion.
He said several residents that tried to escape the attack were injured in the process.
Confirming the incident, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, said the governor, Bello Matawalle, had expressed shock over the report of some “recalcitrant bandits” who unleashed mayhem on innocent people in Kabasa village of Magami district in Gusau local government area of the state.
