2023 Presidency: Yahaya Bello to decide soon – Chief of staff

Abdulkarim Jamiu Asuku, the Chief of Staff, says Kogi State Governor Yahya Bello will soon make known his intention to contest for president in the 2023 general elections.

Asuku said this when he spoke to a group of youth under the aegis of Yahaya Bello Network (YBN) during a town hall meeting in Lokoja, the state capital.

He said the North-central zone has not produced a Vice President and President since 1999, and in the spirit of fairness, the zone should produce the next without any eyebrow from other geopolitical zones.

The group, which was composed of young people from the North-west and North-central zones of the country, had converged in the state capital to persuade the governor to contest for president in the forthcoming election.

The National Chairman of YBN and the convener of the town hall meeting, Abdulamart Mai Kwasherwa, who hails from Kano State, said Yahaya Bello’s presidency is the actualization of the “Not Too Young to Rule” Act that passed into law during the first term of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kwasherwa said the governor had proved his mettle as a capable leader in Kogi and also has the capacity to lead the country to the Promised Land.

“Many elders have led this country but we are yet to reach our destination in terms of development and this time around we want a young and dynamic leader in the person of Governor Bello to contest the presidential election so that inject new knowledge and ideology into the governance of the country,” he said.

“He has the largest number of youths in his government, far more than any other governor in this country. And this is the type of a leader we want as the president who will weave the six geopolitical zones together for the purpose of unity and prosperity.”

The state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Bello, said Nigeria is making history “with the youths now taking their destiny in the hands to support one of their own to move the country to the next level of development.”

He said the country’s leadership over the years had lacked a good rewarding system, hence Bello’s presidency would ensure adequate reward for hard work, excellence, and dedication.
