A fresh boat mishap has occurred on the Dambo-Ebuchi sections of River Niger with more than 200 persons reportedly missing.
The accident happened on Friday morning.
Traders and farmers who were travelling to Katcha for the weekly market were mostly affected.
So far, eight bodies have been recovered by local divers at press time.
Spokesperson of the Niger State Management Agency, Ibrahim Hussaini, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident, but said investigations into the purported mishap were ongoing.
It would be recalled that two months ago, a boat capsized with 42 persons dying in the incident at Gbajibo community of Mokwa LGA in Niger State.
