The Nigerian military says it has killed 19 Boko Haram terrorists trying to infiltrate Rann, a town in Kala Balge local government area of Borno state.

A military source said the terrorists stormed Rann on Tuesday at about 6pm on eight gun trucks and several motorbikes, and attempted to attack a military base located in the town.

The source said before the terrorists could lay ambush on the troops, they (troops) staged a tactical withdrawal from their base, and the Air Task Force launched a massive aerial and ground counter-attack against the terrorists, who retreated due to the fire power.
