Niger State Government says 10 out 21 travellers abducted by bandits on Sunday along Yakila-Zungeru road have been rescued by the government.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mohammad Dani Idris, disclosed this at the General Hospital after three of the rescued victims were examined to determine their health status.
Idris denied that N50 million ransom was paid by the state government for the release of the victims.
He said the state government was working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the release of the remaining victims.
The Managing Director of the General Hospital, Ma-ali Isah, said that three of the victims – two adults and a child – were brought for examination and confirmed to be stable.
