Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno on Sunday presented the staff of office to the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim El-Kanemi, at a ceremony in Dikwa town.
Ibrahim Ibn Umar El-Kanemi emerged as the 13th Shehu of Dikwa following the demise of the late monarch, Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Shehu Masta II who died in 2017.
In his address, Zulum commended the peaceful and harmonious process that led to the selection of the new Shehu, stating that it reflected the emirate’s respect for tradition and the rule of law.
“The selection of Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar El-Kanemi, as the new Shehu of Dikwa was marked by a peaceful and collaborative process in which the kingmakers of the emirate played a key role in identifying a suitable candidate,” Zulum said.
