Wife of Zamfara Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Lawal has commended the Federal Government’s Digital literacy programme aimed at improving teaching, learning and research in the country.
Lawal said this while unveiling the Digital e-Learning Library, on Thursday in Gusau, Zamfara.
Zamfara is among the 10 pilot states in the project under the Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
She said the project was not just about technology and computers, it would empower the youth, bridging the digital divide and opening new doors of knowledge and innovation to the people of the state.
According to Lawal, education remains the bedrock of development of the society.
“In today’s digital world, access to modern learning tools is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
“Through this e-library, students, teachers, researchers and the wider public will have access to the world of information, resources, and opportunities right at their fingertips,” she said.
Lawal said the RHI project, championed by the First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, was driven by a vision to support education, innovation and social development.
“This digital library reflects the vision and promise fulfilled.
“I therefore commend the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the NITDA for executing this project with excellence.
“I deeply appreciate my dear husband, Governor Dauda Lawal and his entire administration for their commitment towards improving education in Zamfara,” she said.
Kashifu Inuwa, Director-General, NITDA, urged Nigerians, particularly students and educators to ensure effective utilisation of the facility.
“They should make it to serve as a powerful tool for learning, growth and the building of a brighter future for generations to come,” Inuwa said.
Also, Wadatau Madawaki, Zamfara Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, said the project aligned with the vision of Gov. Dauda Lawal, who already declared state of emergency on dducation.
He noted how the sector witnessed major transformation aimed at reviving education in the state.
Represented by Maryam Shantali, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Madawaki commended the gesture.
“We assure you that this facility will be put to maximum use for the benefit of our students, teachers and researchers,” the committee said.
