Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has appointed retired Lt. Col. Rabi’u Yandoto as the State Commandant of the newly established Community Protection Guards (CPG), a local security outfit.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Nakwada, on Friday in Gusau.
He also said two retired Majors, Muhammad Adamu and Ahmed Shinkafi would serve as Deputy and Assistant State Commandants, respectively.
Adamu will be in charge of administration while Shinkafi will be responsible for logistics, he said.
“Among the appointees are the Guards Commanders for the 14 Local Government Areas of the state,” the SSG added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 2,645 members of the CPG were recently trained and deployed for community policing duties across the state.
