Former Executive Director of First Bank, Alhaji Dauda Lawal, has been declared winner of the rerun PDP governorship primary election in Zamfara state.
The PDP conducted a rerun following the cancellation of the earlier primary elections by a Federal High Court last Friday.
Mr Lawal had won the first primaries nullified by the court.
In the Friday rerun, 431 delegates from 147 wards across the 14 local government areas of the state had converged on Gusau for the elections.
The chairman of the election committee, Senator Hassan Felix Hyat, announced Mr Lawal as the winner of the election after he polled 422 votes.
He defeated his opponents, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and Hafiz Nahuche, who scored one vote each.
Another aspirant, Alhaji Wadatau Madawaki, had earlier stepped down for Mr Lawal.
The Zamfara PDP chairman, Dr Ahmad Sani Kaura, thanked delegates who came from far and near to produce the party’s candidate.
