Nigerian National Security Adviser Nuhu has slammed the Canadian High Commission in Abuja for denying visas to Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa other top military officers.
The visa denial was revealed by General Musa on Thursday at the maiden annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies in Abuja.
The CDS disclosed that the delegation had been invited to an event honouring war veterans but was left in limbo after the embassy denied visas to some of its members.
“Every disappointment is a blessing.
“Yesterday, I was meant to be in Canada for an event to honour our veterans—those injured in battle. We were invited along with our team, but while half of us got visas, the other half was denied. It’s very disappointing,” Musa said.
Reacting after the CDS made the revelation, Ribadu said the visa snub was “disrespectful” and said Canada “can go to hell.”
The NSA praised the CDS for publicly addressing the issue, saying, “Thank you for the courage to say Canada denied you visas. They can go to hell,” Ribadu declared.
“Even though it’s painful, it’s disrespectful, but we are peaceful and strong. I agree with you that it is time to fix our country. Yet, this is another reason we work hard to make Nigeria work.”
Ribadu also praised Musa for his leadership in tackling insecurity across the country, emphasising that security agencies are working together to address national security challenges.
