Five fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been captured after Nigerian soldiers repelled an attack by the insurgents on Buni Yadi community in Gujba local government area of Yobe state.
An armoured vehicle was also recovered from the insurgents during the battle that took place on Sunday evening.
The attack comes a four weeks after a similar incident happened in the town, when troops repelled ISWAP attack .
Buni Yadi is about 50 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital and is home to the Nigerian Army Special Forces Training School.
The town and the military base have consistently came under terrorists attacks since 2014 when the ( Boko Haram) slaughtered several students of Government Secondary School in their domentory.
Residents said the latest attack was repelled by troops with help of local hunters .
They said the attack took place around 3:50 on Sunday evening, but no casualties from the civilinans .
“They were able to arrest five of the fighters and drove away the others before they could lay siege on the town,” a resident told journalists.
“No resident of Buni Yadi was wounded or killed as the security personnel were able to come to their aid before such could happen.”
