Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa on Saturday, won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial tickets at the primary held in the state.
The incumbent Senator representing Zamfara North senatorial district, Sahabi Alhaji Yau also clinched a return ticket.
Former governor Yari emerged unopposed in the event which took place at his home local government headquarters of Talata Mafara.
Similarly, the primaries which held simultaneously in the three Senatorial Zones saw Senator Sahabi Yau clinching the Zamfara North ticket while former Senator Kabiru Marafa was given the candidature mandate by his Zamfara Central constituents.
A statement by the Zamfara APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau quoted the state chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani as commending the delegates and party members for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise.
Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle thanked Allah for bringing unity in the APC in the state which he said resulted in peaceful primaries.
