Senator Abdulaziz Yari has distributed food items, livestock and cash to Christian communities and organizations in the state to support the 2025 Christmas celebrations.
Yari, who represents Zamfara West District, said the items donated comprised 310 bags of 50kg rice, 16 cows and ₦1 million cash.
Yari, represented by an aide, Alhaji Sani Garba, said the donation was an annual tradition aimed at ensuring Christians celebrate Christmas and the New Year with joy.
He said there was the need for transparency, fairness and justice in the distribution of the items.
Garba said the donation is for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), APC Igbo and Yoruba wings, as well as Igbo and Yoruba communities in Zamfara.
He called on Christians in the state to use the yuletide period to pray for the restoration of peace, security and development in the state and Nigeria at large.
According to him, the CAN received 200 bags of rice, 10 cows and ₦1 million, the APC Igbo Wing received 20 bags of rice and one cow, while the APC Yoruba Wing got 10 bags of rice and one cow.
“The Igbo Community received 50 bags of rice and two cows, and the Yoruba Community was given 30 bags of rice and two cows.”
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the CAN Chairman, Afolabi Azeez, expressed appreciation and assured that the items would be distributed fairly among Christian faithful across the state.
Azeez urged Christians to continue praying for improved peace and security in the state.
