Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabir Marafa were absent as All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders paid a courtesy call on Mai Mala Buni on Thursday in Abuja.
Yari and Marafa had refused to recognise Matawalle as the leader of the party in the state following his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The delegation was led by the former Governor of the state, Ahmed Sani Yerima.
During the visit, Buni who is also the Yobe State Governor and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning committee, reiterated that Matawalle remained the leader of the party in the state.
A statement by Mamman Mohammed, Director General,
Press and Media Affairs to Governor Matawalle quoted Buni as saying that the unity of the stakeholders was a good omen for the state and its people.
“When you are united it makes the work of the party much easier in the state and, l must say, l am impressed with the growing unity in the party in Zamfara state” Buni said.
Sen. Bakura said the party is growing stronger and uniting faster since the defection of Governor Bello Matawalle from PDP to APC last week.
He said there are negotiations still going on to foster more unity and cohesion in the party.
He added that the party membership registration would be done openly to give room for everyone to be registered.
“I want to assure you that this time the registration would be done at every ward and not in anybody’s house” he said.
