Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has told those who are planning to rig the State 2027 governorship to write their will first before doing so.
He gave the threat on Thursday at his monthly media briefing at the Government House in Umuahia, where he also told politicians to let the will of the people prevail.
He said the election would take place by “the will of God and the people,” not political scheming.
Otti warned those allegedly planning to rig the election to reconsider their actions, adding that any attempt to subvert the people’s mandate would have consequences.
He, however, did not specify what the nature of the consequences would be.
“I have heard that some people are boasting that they must take over this state and that they will write results,” he said.
“My advice to them is simple — they should write something else first before that time, and that is their will.”
The governor’s comments were in response to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu’s comments who reportedly said the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia State in 2027.
Otti said he would not stop anyone from contesting for the governorship position, but added that the process must be credible and transparent.
“Everyone has the right to aspire, but no one should think they can undermine the will of Abians,” he said.
