Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has chided former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his comments to the effect that he (Atiku) he will always pick the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former vice president had expressed confidence that he would win the PDP’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 election after his visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta on Saturday.
However, in a statement by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, Wike said Atiku has an over-exaggerated opinion of himself, adding the party’s presidential ticket is not anyone’s birthright.
Wike said, “I didn’t expect him frankly speaking to say that he will always take the ticket of the party. That is going too far and taking the delegates for granted.
“People should watch. There will be shock as far as PDP convention is concerned. People should watch what is going to happen. People like to underrate so many persons and it is not good in politics.”
He, however, said whoever emerge of all the aspirants should be rest assured that the entire party would rally round for victory at the 2023 presidential election.
