The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under Abdulrahman Mohammed, is to hold an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) on Tuesday.
The spokesperson for the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, who announced this on Monday via his X, said the PDP’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja would host the meeing.
The expelled former National Secretary of the PDP Samuel Anyanwu, who is a close ally of Wike, the BoT will meet at 11:00 a.m., while the NEC is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The faction said attendance was mandatory, adding that “crucial matters” would be deliberated. Tuesday’s gathering which marks the party’s 103rd emergency NEC meeting.
The Wike faction is holdig these meeting 24 hours after the conclusion of an elective national convention of the PDP faction, led by Umar Damagum, which held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The convention expelled Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, Anyanwu, Umar Bature, Kamaldeen Ajibade, Mao Ohabunwa, Uwachukwu, George Turner, Dan Orbih, Abdulrahman, Austin Nwachukwu, and Abraham Amah for alleged anti-party activities.
PDP Governors – Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo), attended the Ibadan convention
Ladi Adebutu, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, former Minister Kabiru Turaki, ex-Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, BoT Chairman Adolphus Wabara, and BoT member Bode George also attended the event.
However, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and his Taraba State counterpart, Agbu Kefas w= did not attend the convent just as Governors Mutfwang and Fintiri, despite attending, publicly distanced themselves from Wike’s expulsion.
