Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, says the establishment of a Naval Logistics College in Kano State was for administrative and operational reasons contrary to perceptions in some quarters.
The naval chief said this on Thursday at the second edition of the “Open Ear Dialogue” with journalists.
Represented by the chief of training and operations, Navy, Rear Admiral Abraham Adaji, he said the logistics college was established alongside two other bases at Oguta, and Lekki that will be performing maritime duties.
“What the Navy established in Kano is a logistics college, this has thrown up reactions but has also afforded us the opportunity to shed lights on our establishments across the nation and some of the programmes we have as far as developing capacity is concerned,” he said.
Gambo said the college is a breakout from the Finance and Logistics College located in Owerrenta Aba and Owerri, adding that due to growth and development, it was considered that the colleges be separated with the logistics college is now moved to Kano.
He said it was just a coincidence that he hailed from Kano, but Nigerians should see nation building as a responsibility of all citizens.
