Fresh facts have emerged as to why Katsina Emirate Council suspended the Sarkin Pawwa, District Head of Kankara, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf.
The Emirate Council had announced the suspension of the district head, considered to be powerful, without giving any reasons for its action.
Secretary of the emirate council, Alhaji Mamman Ifo, the Sarkin Yakin Katsina, told BBC Hausa on Saturday that the monarch was fingered by an intelligence report made available to the emir.
He also said that there were complaints from some locals in the district linking the monarch with activities of some vigilante members in the area.
Mamman Ifo said the emirate council was left with no option than to suspend the district head until a committee formed by the council submits its report.
“Nothing has been established yet but the emirate decided to listen to the complaints of the people and available intelligence report. The district head has not been accused of supporting bandits but there are issues we need to investigate,” he said.
The emirate scribe said a committee has been inaugurated and will be led by the Kauran Katsina who is also the district head of Rimi. He said the committee will invite security agents next Tuesday to testify before it.
He also assured that the Emirate Council will do justice to the parties involved.
