The Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN) has appealed for more involvement in the activities of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
Their National President, Dr. Kazeem Olaniyam, made the appeal while leading other executives and members of the association in a courtesy call on the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar on Thursday.
According to Olaniyam, their members were not involved in the activities of the council.
“And we have well trained lawyers. We have Senior Advocates and professors among us.
“We are pleading with the Sultan to ensure our regular involvement in the activities of the council.
“We are always ready for your call and invitation to carry out any assignment in the cause of Islam,” he said
He also explained that they were in Sokoto to conduct their National Executive Council meeting on Saturday and their.members came from different parts of the country to attend the programme.
He thanked the monarch for his sustained support to the association, recalling that he personally attended their previous NEC meetings.
Responding, Sultan Sa’ad advised them to ensure their behaviours reflect their identity.
“Islam demands the highest from you in your behaviour, so always do your best. You must always do the best you can do so that other people will not be calling your names that you are a Muslims but see how you are behaving,” he said
