The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, says Nigerian military will never demand peace from terrorists.
Irabor said this on Friday while speaking with journalists after President Muhammadu Buhari decorated all new service chiefs with their new ranks.
He said: “Peace and security is not just the security of the borders alone. It comes with having to build bridges across various divides.
“We as members of the Armed Forces will never in any way demand peace and security of our nation in the hands of the terrorists. Rather it is we that will determine the peace and not for us to live it in the hands of the terrorists.”
Irabor said the military would work assiduously to ensure peace and security in the country.
The service chiefs decorated with their new ranks are: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao.
