International airlines are projected to have lost about N7.5 billion to flight disruptions as tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, continue to escalate in the Middle-East forcing multiple airspace closures and grounded aircraft.
International airlines operating daily flights between Nigeria and key Middle Eastern hubs were unable to operate scheduled services after the crisis intensified, leaving aircraft stranded and passengers disrupted.
Two major airlines flying into Doha, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Emirates Airways were held back in Nigeria as hostilities escalated, and the airspace in parts of the region was shut and have remained grounded at the Lagos airport.
The projected loss was arrived at based on the size of aircraft the airlines operate, passenger capacity and average ticket cost.
